Benefits of the Modular Test Device MCD SmartModuleS

  • Flexibly configurable, compact and cost-effective.
  • Complete device for small series tests, incoming inspections, test station development.
  • IPC with Windows 11 on board; 4 module slots.

MCD Elektronik SmartModuleS - The Compact Test System

The MCD Elektronik SmartModuleS is a 19" modular system that concentrates the complete test stand into a compact format - flexible and individually configurable thanks to its modular design. The device is ideal for small series tests, incoming inspections, test station development and, thanks to its stand-alone design and compact size with touch display (version 163418), also as a laboratory or test station device. With the appropriate equipment, it offers a space-saving alternative to a complete test rack.
Experience has shown that test systems are a very individual matter. Three basic requirements often apply to them:

  • Flexibility: The test system should be quick and easy to use for changing test tasks.
  • Compactness: The system should be able to be used both on the lab bench and mounted in a 19" rack, taking up as little space as possible.
  • Cost-effective: Cost-effective basic device and components as well as saving time and money by simplifying design, wiring and the like.

The MCD Elektronik SmartModuleSystem meets these requirements:

  • Thanks to its modular concept, it retains the flexibility to meet even very individual customer requirements. The interchangeable plug-in modules can be adapted to many specific measuring tasks.
  • The device combines a complete industrial PC (optionally with touchscreen display) and a UPS in a 3U/42DU 19" housing. It offers GBIT LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth, USB 2.0/3.0 and DisplayPort as interfaces. It can be used on the lab bench or integrated into a 19" rack as part of a larger system.
  • The system is more cost-effective as the user only integrates the functions/modules that he actually needs. There is no need for a great deal of design and wiring work to link the components in the rack: The modules are interference-free, clearly arranged and connected via a standardized backend bus without additional wiring effort. The complete self-configuration and direct recognition when modules are replaced also reduces the effort enormously.

MCD Elektronik SmartModuleS Basic Device With/Without Display

The basic configuration of the SmartModuleS includes an industrial-grade mini PC with integrated UPS built into a robust aluminum housing. It also comes with GBIT LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, and DP interfaces. This provides a "self-sufficient" test environment and complete test sequences can be developed directly on the device. The version 163418 is without a display, the version 163417 also includes a touch display for direct operation without additional devices. The specially designed graphical user interfaces of the MCD Toolmonitors make the device easy to use. Both versions have a display port to connect an additional monitor.

Intelligent Plug-in Modules

Interchangeable plug-in modules, each designed for a specific test task, allow you to react flexibly to changing test requirements. Test tasks that meet the relevant requirements can be integrated in a matter of seconds. The SmartModuleS automatically recognizes the module exchange and thus enables the test tasks to be changed without any configuration effort (complete self-configuration).
