Benefits of the LR810x Multi-Channel Voltage-/Temperature-Loggers

  • Individual channel configurations from 15 up to 3000 for voltage/temperature measurement.
  • Ideal solution for capturing data from high-voltage battery pack cells.
  • Maximum rated terminal-to-ground voltage 1500 VDC (CAT II) insulation.

HIOKI LR8101/LR8102 Dataloggers for Charge/Discharge Testing of Batteries

The HIOKI LR8101 and LR8102 are multi-channel data loggers for individual configurations up to 3000 channels in a modular design and standardized 19" rack format. They are used for voltage acquisition and/or temperature measurement with thermocouples. The dataloggers are ideal for embedding in battery testing systems, for example in battery pack charge/discharge testing. The logger system offers 1500 VDC isolation to earth (M7100).

  • Modular multi-channel datalogger for voltage and temperature.
  • Individual systems with 15 up to 300 (LR8191) or 3000 channels (LR8102).
  • Maximum rated terminal-to-ground voltage 1500 VDC (CAT II) insulation (module M7100).
  • 10 ms sampling with 1500 channels (20 ms sampling with 3000 channels).
  • HIL support with a data output interval as short as 5 ms.
  • Connectivity: LAN and CAN (CAN: LR8101 only).

Applications

Battery packs consist of a large number of cells connected in series. Since variability in cell characteristics can lead to a decline in the battery pack’s overall performance, it is critically important to ascertain voltage and temperature behavior at the cell level. Manufacturers are designing batteries of increasingly high voltage for use in electric vehicles (EVs). As battery voltages rise from 400 V to 800 V, it becomes harder to measure battery cells’ voltage and temperature safely. Instruments used to conduct charge/discharge testing of these high-voltage battery packs must now have higher terminal-to-ground and module-to-module voltage then before.

  • Assessing cell charge/discharge characteristics.
  • Verifying cell balance.
  • Evaluating thermal management.
  • Evaluating performance with an HIL system.
  • Detecting test system errors.

How to select the right combination

  1. Required number of channels:
    max. 80 to 300 - 1x LR8191.
    max. 800 to 3000 - 1x or up to 10x LR8102.
  2. Power supply:
AC adaptor(s) Z1016 powers the logger using commercial AC power.
Power cable(s) L1012 - powers the logger using an external DC power supply.
  3. Measurement modules:
Choose one or up to ten M7100 and/or M7102 based on the required terminal-to-ground voltage, number of channels, and sampling rate.
  4. Choose additional accessories that may be required, eg. for module synchronization, temperature measurements (thermocouple sensors), memory (SD cards, USB drives), etc.
